Configuration Backup Restore with different user

Hello together,

when we try to restore configuration backup with a different win user logged to console than the one who was used when creating the job,
it isn't possible to access repository where the backups are stored. Other restore operations (e.g. Windows Restore guest files) from this repository are possible.
Ist this a normal behaviour or even a wanted scenario (due to security reasons)?

We had installed the last version of Veeam v12.1 with Postgres SQL.

Hi Jason,

I dont't think this is the cause of the issue:
- we don't use MFA
- both users are member of the local administrators group like shown in kb2465.

In the VBR Configuration Restore console we simply can't choose any configured repository but only "This server" as Backup repository.

Are you running the restore from a console session directly on the VBR or remotely?

Maybe can u try this configuration? In the Backup Infraestructure > Backup Repositories > clic in the repository > "Set Access Permissions" > Set "Allow to everyone" and try restore with the different user

Hi Angel,

unfortunately this was not the solution and the behaviour is still the same
Only "This server" can be choosen for Configuration Backup Restore and not external QNAP SMB Share which is usable and accessible with the same user in VBR Console.

Hello Dieter,

I would like for you to try "This server" and then hit the browse button this should open an dialog box. At the top put in the UNC path for where your configuration backups are stored, provided the account has access to the share and permissions to read/write to the files you should see them populated.



From there you can select the most recent configuration backup. It will download it to temp folder within VBR so be aware that will add some time to the overall process.
