Initializing backup jobs takes several hours

Post by miklashenne »

Hello everyone,
Since the upgrade to version 12.1, I have observed the problem that after starting vSphere Backups jobs, the jobs are sometimes "initialized" for more than three hours, and during this time only the following messages are displayed (example):
27.01.2024 18:30:13 :: Job started at 27.01.2024 18:30:11
27.01.2024 18:30:14 :: Building list of machines to process

The backups of the VMs then only start after three hours, unfortunately nothing happens before that.
Does anyone also observe this problem and can someone help me? Thank you!

Support case: 07105491

Hello,
I just went through the case and did not find the information that it only happens since the upgrade to 12.1. Is it definitely only since 12.1 or could it also be that the problem started earlier / later?

Without having good guesses, just one question (also support might be interested): are you using "backup from storage snapshots" and if yes did you try deactivating it just for testing purposes?

Best regards,
Hannes
