Veeam Backup - Synthetic Fulls didn´t delete

Hi,

also also read some other topics about this issue, but i just can´t help myself

i want to realize following backups

VM 1: Sunday -- Full
Monday - Saturday -- incremental
Sunday -- Full 2

After Full 2 is created, i want him to delete the complete chain of Full 1 (VKB + VIB).

I set Delete VMs data retention by default: 14
I set Keep Restore points: 1

Last Sunday he didn´t delete the last chain, so i have 2 VKB files, which causes Dataspace problems.
Why Synthetic fulls didn´t delete?
Maybe the Delete Retention policy? What exactly is the function of this point?

Hi,
I'm not getting the full picture: are you using synthetic or is a simple forward incremental backup?
Delete Retention is related to deleted VMs, that you can remove from backups after that period, is not working for active VMs. If you set 1 Restore points, I would agree the whole previous chain would be deleted, but synthethic goal is to create a new full summing the previous incremental, without the need to extract a new full fro the production datastore, it has nothing to do with retention...

I choose Incremental and checked the "Enable synthectic fulls (forever-incremental) Setting.
Create on: Sunday

Restore points set to 1

but he doesn´t delete the old chain (vbk+vib) after creating a new vbk

Retention settings should apply right after synthetic full is created. If you do not see this happened, please open the case and provide the log files to support specialist to investigate the reason of such behavior. Thanks.
