Explanation on retention and incremental

Post by Narongrat »

Hi,

Veeam 365 the retention settings backup are a bit confusing to me.
Can some one explain it to me ??

I want to back up only SharePoint.
SharePoint data is approximately 900GB in size.
The point is, I want to back up every data in SharePoint from the last 7 days.
If the user deletes the file and also deletes it from the recycle bin.
Still able to recover lost files.

My configure Veeam 365
- Snapshot-base, retention 7 Days
- Object = Site
- Backup schedule = daily at 1AM

am I understand correct ? :
- Start the backup at the first time (Monday 1AM) it will be full backup (All file)
- Tuesday - Friday will backup the original files that have been edited. (new version) and new files

When the following Monday arrives, the previous Monday's data will be deleted.
- The remaining files will be the latest versions of all files again.
- All versions of files from last Tuesday-Friday

Hello Narongrat
- Start the backup at the first time (Monday 1AM) it will be full backup (All file)
Correct
- Tuesday - Friday will backup the original files that have been edited. (new version) and new files
Correct
- The remaining files will be the latest versions of all files again.
- All versions of files from last Tuesday-Friday
Older Versions of remaining files are still protected in your backup repository. When we backup an object the first time, we protect all available versions. It may be possible that you see file versions much older than 7 days.

Best,
