Copy backup...

Post by kssox05 »

Hi,

I have some backup jobs that I no longer need as the devices are no longer being backed up. However, I do need to retain the backup files I currently have of them. I'd like to move them off to another repository for keeping indefinitely. I was thinking of using the "copy backup..." feature under Backups->Disks to get this done. Will the copy in the new repository have a retention period or will it remain until deleted manually? Will those machines be able to be restored if need be in the future?

Here is what I was thinking of doing:

1) Create a copy of the backup disks to another repository using this method:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... 22&ver=120

2) Delete the original backup disk files.

3) Finally, delete the job.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello Kssox05

Yes, you can configure a retention and copied backups will automatically deleted after the specified time period. That is explained in the user guide you have shared.

You can use the same restore options with copied backups.
