File level restore with multiple restore points

Post by ServerGuy »

Hello. Is there any way in Veeam Backup & Replication to find the most recent version of a file in *all* restore points, without having to mount each individual restore point? I've found some articles that seem to mention Veeam Enterprise Manager, but feel like this should be something that can be natively accomplished in B&R. If this is not something native, is there any way to do it without VEM? Can any devs confirm whether or not this feature is planned to be added into B&R? Seems like a very basic feature that causes headaches for a lot of people who have multiple restore points but don't know specifically when a file was deleted.

Thanks

Hello

Welcome to the forum.

You are right. Enterprise manager with guest file indexing can help you find files within multiple backups. If you know the file name (or part of it), you can use the search in enterprise manager to find the last restore point where it was protected.

Another option would be scripting. Use our data integration API (no EM required) to mount every restore point and scan your mounted backup until you find the file you are looking for.

Enterprise Manager seems the easier approach to me.

Other options directly in the backup console are not on our roadmap.
