upgrade veeam before vmware?

Post by nd39475 »

currently on Veeam B&R 11.0.1.1261 and VMware 7.0.3
need to go VMware 8

do i upgrade Veeam first in order to support vmw-8? will the existing database be used or upgraded seamlessly? (i understand B&R 12 does not include SQL)

I would take a look at this doc. https://www.veeam.com/kb2443. it shows the minimum required versions of Veeam to support VMware.

thank you very kindly @Sturniolo -- good news on both accounts.
although the limitation do not apply to our environment, seems a good idea to up veeam regardless. i've just put it off too long.

Hello

The database won‘t be upgraded from MSSQL to PostgreSQL when updating the backup server to v12 or later.
You will still have MSSQL as the configuration database engine. There is no need to switch to PostgreSQL if you don‘t want to. MSSQL is still supported.
If you want to switch to PostgreSQL, it will be a manual migration:

Thank you @Mildur, I will happily stay with MS-SQL if it saves from unnecessary work.
