Azure Test Recovery

Post by mbroaders »

Is it possible to run a test to Azure so it restores into a different vNET/Subnet than production? I am running through some labs at the moment and i dont see the option to do so? Just wondering how best to test VM restores into a live Azure environment without them registering against DNS.

Hi,

Yes, you can perform cloud restore to a different network quite easily. This is how -

Clone your Azure recovery location, and then edit the clone to change only the network mappings. Map your on-premise networks to an isolated network that you have configured in Azure.

Then you can execute your plan, choosing the cloned recovery location, and VMs will be recovered into your isolated network.

Note you can also inject your own powershell scripts to check status of applications, services etc.

Hope that helps!
