Very poor restore times

Post by lmcintyre »

Hi.
I have a new server setup that I am performing a test restore onto.

I am getting horrible restore speeds of about 966 KB/s.
The restore has been running for over 2 hours now and only 512MB has transferred over.
I've had a similar issue when restoring to our live server (which is a brand new server with plenty of grunt).

What sort of restore speeds should I expect? And does anybody have any idea how I can troubleshoot the reason?
Thankyou

You posted no info about your Veeam environment, so it's impossible to tell you why is so slow and how we can help. Give us more info :)

Hi, sounds like network mode restore over a very slow network, or something like that. For fast restores, be sure to pick hot add capable proxy server VM in the restore wizard.

Do you have more than one proxy, perhaps one at a remote site? You can actually manually select the proxy to use during restore and I've seen the "automatic" option pick some horribly bad proxies. When performing the restore look for the blue link that says "Pick proxy to use" (or something like that).

Is the above a file level restore or full VM restore?
