Database instance creation issue

Post by Hammy »

Hello all, I am sure I am being a noob here but having a prob installing VEEAM to a remote SQL instance on a customer site at the mo and wondered if someone could show me the error of my ways lol.

I am going through normal install on a Windows 2003 server using a enterprise admin account (over the top I know). The account has dbcreate and sysadmin on the database server it needs to go to.

When I select use exisitng instance of SQL server then browse I can select the DB Server ok. I then hit next and it gives me the warning the selected SQL Server instance already has Veeam Backup and FastSCP config etc etc.

This cannot be the case as this is a greenfield site and they have never used it before but I select yes anyway as it is the only option I have really if I want to move forward. I then give the credentials for the account and it starts the install. It then errors with

Code: Select all

Error 27506.Error executing SQL script DBupdate.sql. Line 100. Cannot find the object "dbo.backups" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions. (4902)
I am stuck here can someone put me out of my misery lol

Regards
H

Hello,

Hm... I haven't met this issue before. But could you please try connecting to that remote DB using SQL Management Studio and check if there are any Veeam instances present (just to be sure there are no Veeam DBs). And if you see, make sure they are not used, then remove them. It will be best if you could perform all of that using the same account you are using to run the setup wizard.

Thanks!

This is a permissions issue. I ran into this just now and saw this post. I fixed it by using a higher privileged user to do the install with.

Hi Hammy

Does your problem get resolved? I am getting the same issue now.

The account I am using is a Domain Admin account with dbo privileges to the veeam database. But am still getting the same error as above.

Alim, can you create the database via SQL Management Studio manually using the same account?

I solved my problem: no need to create database manually, Veeam Backup install program will create database automatically.
You need only select SQL server without base "VeeamBackup".
