Adding S3 Object Storage to Inventory

Post by aschmieg »

I am setting up backups of S3 compatible Object Storage buckets.
In Inventory - Unstructured Data - Add Data Source - Object Storage

I added one bucket with no issue. Attempts to add second bucket with same "service point" URL but with different credentials fails.
I get pop-up message "S3-compatible object storage XXXXXX with region already exits."

Basically, I have one service point URL but need to use multiple credentials to access the different buckets.
Is this possible in veeam?

Tony, please open a support ticket with Veeam Suport and we will look into this for you.

Thanks.

Per support this functionality is not included in the current version.

This makes the feature, basically not very useful. Unless i want to edit the item and change the credentials and then run a backup for each credential.
This is my submission for a feature request to have one service point URL and allow use of multiple credentials to access the different buckets. The credential should be at the bucket and not the service point is one idea.

Hello,

B&R validates the S3-compatible object storage to be unique by the specified endpoint; it allows jobs, mapping, restores and other functionality work correctly with added S3-compatible object storage.

Tony, what S3-compatible object storage you are referring too?
Basically, I have one service point URL but need to use multiple credentials to access the different buckets. Is this possible in veeam?
In theory if we allow to add X amount of endpoints but with different credentials you will have to manage X amount of credentials separately. Is it possible to set one service account for all the buckets using one endpoint?

Hi Dima,
This is Redhat Openshift.
Each bucket has a different ID and Key. Same service point URL.

Thank you for the clarification Tony. Is it possible to have single service account (i.e. backup admin in simple terms) with access to all the buckets within the Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation or it's somehow limited by the setup?
