U-AIR SharePoint Recovery

We are looking at purchasing Veeam, and I am wondering how the share point recovery would work if I have a separate SQL and SharePoint server. I understand that you restore the server(s) to the sandbox directly from the backups, however how will the connections between the two servers work since you could not put it on a live network? Perhaps I am missing something simple, but I do not quite understand how it will work.
