Failing to Save Digests #07343567

Post by simonneal72 »

Hi
Ticket number is # 07343567

Endpoint been backing up totally fine for a long time, just started to fail with Failing to Save digest and the final error Error: Socket has been forcibly closed. Failed to recover connection.
I have 3 other endpoints on the same network all backing up fine. I have updated the endpoint to the latest version, tried a new backup set, rebooted endpoint, no success

Thoughts?

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,

Thank you for sharing the case details and sorry to hear about the challenges. I see the case was opened with a Free license; please note that Free edition products are supported on a "Best-Effort" basis (4.3) depending on Support availability for free edition cases. Since the case just got opened, let's wait and see the results, but if you have a license, please open a case with that Support ID.

The issue itself unfortunately won't be possible to troubleshoot over the forums, but in general "Socket has been forcibly closed" means what it tells, something closed the connection. Typically it's anti-virus or firewall on one of the infrastructure components (the source GuestOS being backed up, repository server, Veeam Backup and Replication Server), but it will require a bit of research in the environment to be more specific.

If you're not able to spot it, then it's best to either open a case with a valid Support ID, or we'll need to wait to see if Support will have availability to process this particular Free edition case.
