Seeding with VCC Object Storage target

Post by martin.beseme »

Dear all,

Do you know if there is a way to do a seeding from on premise VEEAM B&R protected VMs and a VCC object storage target ?

We tried to do a backup copy job to a local NAS repository or an S3 repository installed on premise and then transport this repo to the Datacenter, move backups to the VCC object storage target, but we were unable to remap the initial backup copy job to that VCC target.

The process works if we use "standard" VCC disk repository.

Thank you !

Martin.

Hi Martin

Seeding for object storage in VCC is not possible today.
You can't migrate objects from a tenants object storage repository to the correct prefix (belonging to the tenant) on the target VCC object storage. The VCC backup server wouldn't know to which tenant the backups belong.

We know about the request to provide seeding options, but currently we have nothing to share today.

Thank you Fabian for your answer !
We hope to see this possibility implemented in the future.

Martin.
