Unable to access capacity tier backups.

Post by clbow23 »

Hello all,

I have been using Wasabi for my capacity tier for several months now but without object lock. I decided that it was time to bite the bullet and correct this to ensure I am following best practices. The problem is that this was no easy task since you cannot simply add a new object lock enabled bucket to an existing SOBR is its capacity tier does not have object lock enabled. I followed the steps in this post closely: https://community.veeam.com/blogs-and-p ... endor-2351

I was able to get my offloads going to the new bucket, however, I am unable to access the backups in the old bucket at all. I never had a folder for orphaned capacity or object storage backups appear and the backups disappeared from the main “Capacity” folder immediately. I tried removing the old SOBR completely and then importing the backups from the backup repository directly to no avail. I receive an error message that says: “Failed to synchronize Wasabi - Capacity Tier - OLD. Details: Folder does not exist in”

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to lose these monthly GFS backups.

Hello

You write in the case that you have tried a rescan. Rescan won't work for object storage used as capacity tier.
For capacity tier buckets, an import session has to be run:

Hello Fabian,

I have also tried this. When I attempt to import backups, I receive an error message "7/29/2024 8:51:07 AM Warning Failed to synchronize Wasabi - Capacity Tier - OLD Details: Folder does not exist in object storage"

A bucket previously used as a Capacity Tier can be connected to any backup server (even Community Edition).
Backups then must be imported to the backup server.

But this error message means something has gone wrong. Please continue to investigate the issue in the case together with your support engineer.
