why update from version 9.5 update 4 to latest?
Hello,
when having Veeam B+R 9.5 Update4 - is there any good cause to update to the latest version?
1x ESX Host v7
10x Windows VMs
thx for comment

Re: why update from version 9.5 update 4 to latest?
Hi User56
I ask the other way around. Why not running an upgrade to the latest version?
Your version is affected by multiple critical security vulnerabilities and long out of support.
Patches to fix many of the security vulnerabilities that were released in the last 2-3 years simply do not exist for version 9.5, yet vulnerabilities are well known to hackers and are being actively exploited.
Best,
Fabian

In addition to what Fabian already wrote: Your ESX version is officially not supported with that VBR version. Support for vSphere 7 came with VBR 10 according to this KB: https://www.veeam.com/kb2443. So you can't really trust that it works as it should.
If this is not only a Homelab, I personally would not trust in an out of support version of such an important piece of infrastructure, which backup software is.

Staying on 9.5 is like running Windows XP in 2024... you make yourself completely exposed to cyberattacks.
