Veeam Server Migration to a new VM: what about RMAN Plugins?

Post by tinto1970 »

Good morning, we are planning to migrate a Veeam Server (windows machine jonied to AD, SQL 2012 on the same machine) to a new infrastructure (2 VMs: one for VBR one for SQL 2022, out of AD domain).
Backup repos are two Linux Hardened VM.

We have some RMAN plugins, not managed by Veeam, that are running and point the current Veeam server.

What is the correct procedure to follow AFTER the server migration (hopefully) suceeds? Should(how we reconfigure the plugin (running the wizard again from the Oracle server right?)?

(secondary question: what if we assign the new Veeam VM the same IP address of the old one? Could this save us from reconfiguring the RMAN plugins?)

Sorry but I did not find these answers on the net
thanks in advance.

Hi Alessandro,

If we assume that the connection parameters and credentials for the backup server remain the same, you won't need to reconfigure the plug-in.

Thanks!

ok thank you Petr... that said, if the new Veeam server holds the same IP of the old one, averything should run fine.
Thank you so much!
