Getting tape numbers required from restore points

Post by thechanster »

Hi Team,

I am looking to automate some VM recoveries where some are on tape. I have a list of the restore points to restore via Get-VBRRestorePoint, but trying determine:

1) Is the restore point on tape?
2) If it is, what tape(s) is the restore point on, so I can arrange for them to be loaded?

When restoring through the GUI it immediately pops up the tapes required, but cannot figure it out in PowerShell.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Hi Matt, welcome to the forums.

Currently, retrieving restore points from Tape specifically and the specific tapes isn't possible at this time with the current cmdlets.

The following Veeam One reports can give you a list of backups on tape depending on your tape usage:

Backups on Tape Report: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/r ... ml?ver=120
Tape GFS Backup Files Report: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/r ... ml?ver=120

While I realize this isn't quite automation for you, it should help with avoiding additional clicking through the console and have a consolidated report for your backups on tape.

Similarly, there is an unsupported but working method which can provide information about backups on tape and their respective tapes.
