Plugin for Oracle RMAN - Managed Mode Instructions

Post by kirkhw »

I'm testing Veeam Plugin for Oracle RMAN using the following link and have chosen the Managed Operations Mode which installs the plugin on the target host from the VBR (vs Stand Alone Mode).

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

The instructions in the below link result in the following error, which suggests for Managed Operations Mode I probably need to manage the configuration elsewhere (like the VBR), but I can't find the instructions for how to do that.

Code: Select all

# ./OracleRMANConfigTool --wizard
Unable to execute the requested command because the plug-in on this host is managed by Veeam Backup & Replication server veeam-101.

Where can I find instructions for configuring the plugin in Managed mode?

Hi Kirik and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!

In managed mode, there is no need to configure the plug-in manually. Simply create a new RMAN backup policy and add the databases to it. The Veeam B&R server will automatically handle the configuration. The configuration wizard on the source side is blocked to prevent potential conflicts between manual configurations and automatic setup. However, you can refer to this page to find a list of allowed configuration tool commands.

If you prefer to use the plug-in in standalone mode, you can reset the plug-in ownership.

Thanks!

Thanks @PeterM for the feedback. Our choice is to go forward with VBR Console managed plugins. I finally found the instructions in the following link for managing Application backup policies for Oracle.
