SYBASE Backup
Hello,
I'm a new with veeam.
I have to backup a sybase database and i see that sap sybase is not supported by veeam that's why i must backup with pre / post-machine-thaw script and i search a template to use with veeam in application aware mode.
Thank you.

Re: SYBASE Backup
Hello,
We don't have such templates, but you may have a look at this page on SAP infocenter to get a better idea of how to use the "quiesce" command to suspend and resume database activity. The pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts should be based on this command.
Thanks!

Re: SYBASE Backup
Hello, we can not configure application aware backup for Sybase DB, if you want to take Sybase backup. i would suggest take local backup of Sybase and then configure file level interval backup to insure the availability, plan and consider Logs can not be backed-up in this case. i also faced this challenge two years ago and i migrated the backup job from Networker to Avamar as Avamar is having supported/compatible for Sybase.

Re: SYBASE Backup
Hello,
Maybe it's a matter of preference but I'd stick with the image-level job with pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts. This approach also enables the entire feature set of Veeam Backup & Replication for enhanced protection of Sybase workloads, such as the Hardened repository, backup to object storage, backup copy, backup to tape and many many others.
Thanks!

Re: SYBASE Backup
Hello,
Yes, I think you should perform it in the post-thaw script. However, I have not personally tested backing up real SYBASE, and I strongly recommend testing all possible recovery scenarios before making a decision about this approach.
Thanks!
