We are currently using VEEAM backup to transfer on-prem data to AWS cloud daily. The data stays in S3 for 1 month before moving to Glacier for 3 months. We now have a requirement to retain specific VMs in Glacier for 25 years. To accommodate this, we've created a separate SOBR (on-prem - S3 - Glacier) and set a 1-day retention in S3 before moving the data to Glacier for 25 yrs
Currently, the backup data resides in both the performance tier and the Glacier tier. Could you advise on how to automatically remove the data from the performance tier?

Re: One time backup data to AWS Glacier
Hi, normally it should be removed from Performance Tier automatically once the backup has been moved to object storage, leaving only a small stub file with metadata about this restore point. If you're not seeing this please have support troubleshoot. I assume you're doing VeeamZIP or Export Backup to this special SOBR?
By the way, in the next minor release (12.2) you will be able to create SOBR with Performance and Archive tiers only. So there won't be a need to land data on hot object storage (Capacity Tier) even for 1 day... which should save quite a bit of costs for your use case.
Thanks
