surpress warning for SureBackup jobs when VM has no vmware tools

Post by mcz »

Hi everyone,

simple situation: I've got a VM that has no vmware-tools. I can't even install them, I have no access to that box. Now I wanna make sure that it runs and so I have added this cdp-replica to a surebackup-job. I've unticked the box for heartbeat- and ping-tests and veeam now always finishes with a warning...

Does veeam check if the vm itself got started even without heartbeat? If so, can we surpress the alarm for that one single VM? Thanks!

Hi Michael,
veeam now always finishes with a warning
I'm curious if the warning is specifically about the VMware tools? How does it look like?

Hi Michael,

We've checked with QA team and we can't confirmed the same behavior.
Pre-conditions:
  • VM without VMware tool
  • Unticked Heartbeat and Ping verification

Result is following on our end:

Thanks Marina. In my case the task finishes fine, but the whole surebackup-job and the e-mail-notification results in a warning. Not on your side?

Hi Michael,

If one of the step ends with 'warning' during surebackup job, the whole surebackup job will be finished with 'warning' status.
But you can adjust advanced settings for notification on particular surebackup job (instead of using global)

Yeah but does that help? If I untick the box, I won't receive a notification. But job still finishes with a warning plus in veeam one it will also trigger the warning...
Can veeam check if the vm was started without vmware tools or is the warning the result of "we don't know if it worked or not"?

Thanks!
