I don't understand how the licensing part of FileBackup jobs of shares works.
What I know, 1 license should be calculated for every 500 GB of saved data.
In my case I've 4 jobs of this type.
- 1. save 3 NFS Shares. The first one in the save takes up less than 500 GB and this is not calculated. The second one takes up 2.35 TB, and is calculated as 1 license. The third one takes up 1.37 TB, and is calculated as 2 licenses.
2. save 1 SMB share. the save takes up 3 TB and 4 licenses are calculated
3. save 1 SMB share. the save takes up 3.65 TB and 10 licenses are calculated
4. save 1 SMB share. the save takes up 2.66 TB and 7 licenses are calculated
1. 6 licenses (instead 3 are calculated)
2. 6 licenses (instead 4 are calculated)
3. 7 licenses (instead 10 are calculated)
4. 5 licenses (instead 7 are calculated)
At the end the number of licenses corresponds, but the distribution per job does NOT.
This makes the calculation for any new jobs of the same type very difficult.
Does the license calculation only occur on the first backup, or does it also take into account any copy that is made on another site (with a CopyJob)?
I also read that in version 12.2 the File to tape part has been changed (regarding licenses)
- they have been re-engineered for scalability and are no longer free with Veeam B&R 12.2 . You will have a grace period of 3 months following the upgrade to Veeam B&R 12.2, during which your existing jobs will not consume license.
After this?
Thanks in advance for the help.
