SQL Stagingserver - supported Versions

Hello,

during problems while upgrading to 12.2 the lokal installed SQL express was replaced with postgreSQL. This was done by our service provider supported by Veeam-people.
To not lose advanced recovery functionality for our MSSQL databases, we need a new Standalone SQL-Server.

Question is simple: Which Versions of MSSQL are Supported by Veeam 12.2 . I could not find a detailed statement.
Preferably we would use SQL Server 2022, If you don't object.

Hi Hans,

As noted in the link you provided, any version is supported:

As a staging server, you can use any edition of Microsoft SQL Server, including the Express Edition. You can download the necessary edition from the Microsoft Download Center.

Note that databases that exceed 10 GB cannot be attached to the Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition due to Express Edition limitations. For more information, see the Editions and supported features of SQL Server 2022 Microsoft article.

Make sure that the staging server has the same version of Microsoft SQL Server as the source server, or a later version.

However, there can be compatibility issues if the staging server is on a higher or lower version, so there is some logic behind ensuring that the staging server is the same version.

Hello David,

thanks for your help. It looks like i really missed that lines.
Currently we have SQL Servers in multiple Versions 2016, 2019, 2022. So i think best solution would be to run Stagingserver also in 2022 Version.
