Trying to understand restore points

Post by jeff.cornick »

Very new to Veeam so apologies if this is a dumb question.

I'm showing some machines have restore points of 15+ options. But the setup is for keeping backups for 5 days. How come I would have so many restore points during a 5 day window?

I have done a lot of configuration changes since finding that our server is in a bit of a disastrous state. Some machines were set to 24 days of backups but that was modified over a month ago at this point and I would have figured it should have gone through and deleted restore points that are older than 5 days....?

If you use incremental backup mode with periodic fulls then the whole backup chain cannot be removed until the last increment is still under the retention policy. So look at your full backups schedule.
