Instant recovery Same Hyper-v host (original VM coexistence)
Hi.
In instant recovery to Hyperv at the step of RECOVERY MODE:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
If you chose 2nd option: "Restore to a new location, or woth different settings" and you still have the ORIGINAL VM on that host, can they coexist? Or will the original VM (and its disks/volumes) automatically be removed even if you have chosen that 2nd option?
Thanks

Hi Bostjan,
You can have both machine coexisting.
On this step of the Instant Recovery Wizard change the name of the Virtual Machine or append a prefix/suffix. This will automatically set the option to generate a new BIOS UUID, so the VM will be understood as new and separate.
Please note you may also need to create a new folder for the VM on this step of the wizard as well. Veeam will check before starting the Instant Recovery and taking any actions, and if something is required to be removed, it will warn before letting you start the process.

The only thing where this is an issue is, if you have selected fixed MAC addresses, then our restore would restore as well the MAC address and then you would have to network cards with same MAC in the same network potentially. But it is really uncommon to have this configuration.

@andreas Neufert - thanks for the hint.
We use dynamic MAC on this VM's hosted on Hyper-v. But in some environment we do have specific MAC addresses set. Good to know.
