Veeam Backup and Replication replica seeding

Post by jeffreyangwb »

Hi, I'm quite new to Veeam. Just wanted to verify if replica seeding is done only during initial replication phase, and I'd need to create another backup and replication plan for incremental synchronization from Prod to DR site with time intervals to ensure subsequent and continuous data synching? Thank you.

No, there's no need to create another replication plan. You configure replica seeding within your single one and only replication plan - and just continue using it normally. The process of replica seeding is well described in the User Guide.

Thank you, so it should continuosly sync data to the replica VM from source VM? As my vendor told me seeding is only for initializing, subsequent data sync needs incremental backups.

So I needed to remove an existing replica from one job and add it to another; basically change which job managed the replica of a specific VM. I successfully performed replication using seeding to point the job to existing replica. The job has ran several times now performing incrementals and has been fine. However, I see the "Replica Seeding" checkbox is still selected in the job. Should I deselect this now since the seeding should no longer be part of the process?
