Linux Repository with Immuability

Post by wlacon »

Hello,
i need three information: i have to do a new Linux repository with XFS.
It will be the target for copy jobs.

- first question: the copy jobs are forever incremental.
Can i activate the immutability feature on Linux Repository and i use it as copy job target?
Are the immutability and a forever incremental copy job compatible?
How does a copy job create the Full if the chain is locked from Immutability feature?

- second question: when a copy job work from a repository (Windows Refs or Linux Xfs) to another repository (Windows Refs or Linux Xfs) the data transfer is directly and not use a Proxy Veeam Data Mover but only the Data Mover (Gateway) inside them. Is it right?

- third question: can i limit the bandwith used from copy job inside the Veeam?

Thank you.

Hi Wlacon

1. You need to schedule periodic full backups (synthetic or active full copies) to use a Hardened Repository as a job target. Forever Forward Incremental is not possible.

2. Backup data is copied directly between the data mover on your source repository and target repository.

3. Yes, Network traffic rules.
