Question:
I’m looking for a way to configure my Backup Copy Job in Veeam Backup & Replication so that it stops copying new backups but continues to remove old backups as they expire.
Context:
Currently, the destination for this Backup Copy Job is an S3 repository on AWS. To reduce costs, I want to stop using this cloud storage, but I don’t want to delete all the existing backups there at once. My goal is to keep the repository inactive for new copies but allow Veeam to manage the gradual deletion of data based on the configured retention period.
Does anyone know how I can configure this effectively in Veeam?

Re: Prevent a Backup Copy Job from copying any new restore points
Hi Rafael,
Just to confirm, this is a Backup Copy of normal VM/Physical machine backups, is that correct?
Background Retention sounds like what you need here -- you can simply right-click the backups and detach them from the job (or just delete the job) and these backups will be placed in the Backups > * (Orphaned) nodes, where Background Retention will apply.
Please do check the User Guide page linked as there are some considerations for Background Retention.
