Upgraded Veeam to V8 (from V7 latest) and NATS didn't install

Post by AVavav »

Hi,

Just upgraded the m365 product using the ISO and in step 2 (NATS server installation) it crashed due to EDR agent not liking it.

The installer did continue to step 3 to 5 without any errors.
Any idea what should I do (trying to prevent rebuilding it as very complicated and have jobs running for years with specific retentions)

Hello AVavav,

At this point, I strongly recommend reaching out to our customer support team. We cannot assist with technical issues over this forum post (our forum policy). If there is no workaround or manual deployment possible, then our support team may verify the possibility for a rollback of the VB365 controller server (if you have created a snapshot/backup before the upgrade) or if a redeploy of the entire server configuration from scratch is required.

Thank you,

NATS server is part 2 of the installer, I see a ZIP file just sitting there in the ISO's subfolder.
As part of the wizard, it shows you a password and server details to store in a safe place.

I'll leave it to run tonight and will contact support tomorrow as I'll might have some error.
Manually tested it and worked fine on a few mailboxes so not what I was expecting.

NATS is a new component in Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 8. It is used for the new "proxy pools" functionality.

Really feeling let down by support, raised a ticket 10 days ago and got one email from someone saying that a technical resource will be assigned to the ticket.
From that point, every couple of days I received an automated emails trying to close the ticket due to "no input from me" so I replied each time and even logged on and added notes directly to be sure.

Last Friday, I've escalated online and got a manager to ask questions but again no one assigned to it, nor a response of any sorts.

Hi AVavav,

From your case details, I see that our support engineer had a few follow-up questions that haven't received a response yet.

By default, during the upgrade to v8, the NATS server is installed with a default password which is provided on the installation summary page (the Ready to Install step). Should you want to use your custom password, you could do it from the same summary step of the installation wizard by clicking the Customize Settings option.

Now, after NATS is already installed, you can change its password following the steps from KB4669.

Hope it helps.

Thanks!
