Veeam for aws high availability

Post by jimleslie77 »

Hello and thanks for any help given.

I wondered if anybody had any information on providing high availability to Veeam for aws?

What are the options if any of providing this?

Hi James,

I would recommend using the configuration backup feature via Veeam B&R. Since the cloud is dynamic, you can quickly deploy a new VB (treat it as a worker) and import the configuration to continue protecting the infrastructure.

Thanks!

Hi,

is the VBA Multi-AZ deployment in roadmap?

Another question: how is the best approach for importing the config in a new VBA created in a different AZ? Which configurations require the most attention once the restore is complete (worker config, network config, etc..)?

Hi Marco,

If you import a config, there is verification done for anything you have configured. As long as your production settings don't change, everything will work.

On the question for multi-az support, there are no short-term plans for this as we have cofiguration backup&restore for recovery in case of a disaster.

Hi Niels,

thank you for you reply.

What is if the entire AWS AZ goes down and some configs point to this "dead AZ"?

I know it's a very unlikely scenario, but I'm trying to avoid any possible impact.

Also consider that VBA is managed by a v12 VBR, installed on AWS too.

Hi Marco,

In that case, you will have to configure related aspects for example worker network configuration. We cannot easily overcome it as it has changes related to the network settings for example and it needs action from you to map it correctly.
