after failed upgrade 12.1 to 12.2, I uninstalled everything, now setup 12.2 or 11.0 will do an upgrade that fails

Post by nexusdis »

Hello,

after an failed upgrade 12.1 to 12.2
any fresh Veeam install failed too with error:

This action is only prossible for installed products.

There are no registry keys like *veeam* or any services like name *veeam* nor any folder on this win 2022 std. server.

Hi Ben,

Sorry to hear about the installation troubles. Do not delete from the registry unless instructed by Support, as this may impact the ability to recover the situation.

Please open a Support Case and allow Veeam Support to review the situation. Be sure to include logs from the Veeam server. As the console cannot open I'm assuming, you will need to manually add the logs to an archive (I've linked to this process), and please also include the "Setup" folder as well (%ProgramData%\Veeam\Setup)

Please share your case number once created. Thanks!

Hello David,

I use the community edition and can not open a support case.

Community Edition does get Support, however it's on a "best-effort" basis. So I would still advise a support case.

The message itself is unfortunately not a good one to be getting, means likely something is not great somewhere in the registry very likely. You can try a Repair Installation, but from past experience with this error on other software, a reformat may be required.

Hello nexusdis!

Just a quick guess ... are you using an Update ISO?
Check the file size, if its 12-13 GB its an full install ISO otherwise only an update. (file name should also give a hint)

Have you tried deleting the "c:\programdata\veeam" folder?
