Good day all.
Apologies if there is already a thread for this but I am not finding the answer I need from other threads.
Veeam Version: 12.2.0.334
I am getting this error when trying to use a Off-Host backup proxy = Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: There is no hardware provider for off-host backup detected. Snapshot failover is disabled.
And yes I have followed the Veeam guide on how to setup and use an Off-Host backup proxy but just not getting it to work.
Any help / advise will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Hyper-V Off-Host Backup proxy
Hi RuaanP,
Just to confirm, you have a VSS Hardware Provider installed on your production hosts and the off-host proxy? You should see it by running from an administrative powershell/cmd line:
vssadmin list providers
If you don't see this on your production/off-host proxy, then this needs to be installed first, and you would get this from your storage vendor if they have one.
Please also note that in general, our reference architecture for Hyper-V utilizes on-host proxies as the performance is typically comparable and overall tends to be more reliable as less moving parts to break during backups.

Re: Hyper-V Off-Host Backup proxy
Hi David
Thank you for the reply.
I see the VSS hardware Provider is not listed on the production Hyper-V hosts and off-host proxy, thanks for that.
Reason we want to get the off-host proxy working is because it has a 100GB direct cable to an HPE Alletra 4140 Immutable storage array. So want to specify that internal network connection on the proxy and push the backup data from the Off-Host proxy server to that Alletra via the 100GB cable.
I have been trying to get he HPE 3PAR VSS hardware provider from HPE but still no luck but will keep on looking for it or submit a post on their Forum for it.
Thank you
