Tape Job Not Recognizing Backup Jobs Stored on Dell EMS in Veeam B&R

My VMware backup jobs are configured to save backups directly to my Dell EMC storage solution, which I've added from the Storage Infrastructure. However, when I attempt to create a Tape Job, I notice that these VMware jobs aren’t visible in the Tape Job dialog.

It seems that Veeam only recognizes backups that are stored in Backup Repositories, such as the default backup repository, which is preventing me from including my Dell EMC stored backups in the tape jobs.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue or can provide insight into why this might be happening? Is there a workaround or solution to allow backup jobs stored on the Dell EMS to be included in a Tape Job?

Hello,
all VMware image backups are usually usable together with the Backup 2 Tape jobs. You potentially have to create backup once to be able to select them but that is usually not needed.

Can you please describe a bit better on wha you did exactly?
How did you added the Dell storage as Repository? (What protocol do you use?)
What Backup jobs did you define? Do you do VM backups or maybe you have choosen the wrong job and perform file backups of the VMs?

I have connected the Dell EMC SC Series through the Storage Infrastructure section (Add Storage/Dell EMC).
Backup Jobs have been created using the Dell EMC SC Series Snapshot (Primary storage snapshot only) as the Backup Repository.
Then I create a Tape Job/Backups and choose Add/Backup jobs, but the Jobs list is empty.

If I create a Backup Job and specify the Default Backup Repository (located on NAS or local disk) as the Backup Repository, then this Backup Job will be displayed for the Tape Backup Job.

Snapshots cannot be transported to Tape without the storage vendor supporting this offload method and has integrated this technology with our Universal Storage API Snapshot Archiving functionality. Please reach out to Dell to find out if they want to support it in the future.

For now, you need to create backups (not storage snapshots) to be able to backup them to tape. The backup job can create backups and snapshots combined.
