Best practise for backing up single Group

Post by Espert »

I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight into the correct way to handle backup of a single mail-enabled group? We have a group that has grown very large in filesize, and mail. It is struggling to backup, even though we have extended the backup-window significantly. I want to move backup of this group to a different proxy, and run it in a separate job.

However when I tested, it appears if Veeam also wants to backup the users that are a member of this group. What is the best practice for handling this?
We have separated large useraccounts before, but never groups. I would like to only backup the specific group, and not the users mailboxes.

Or am I reading the log/output all wrong? Is Veeam for 365 really backing up member accounts of this group as well?
I understand I might be asking the wrong question here, and would appreciate any tips

Hi Espen and welcome to Veeam forums,

If you only want to protect group mailbox and data, you can exclude members from processing as described here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=80

Hope it helps
