Architecture/network question

Post by FrenchBlue »

Hello,

We have bare metal servers repositories in a cloud environment, full SSD so high disks bandwidth, where we have 4 x 10 Gb ethernet ports on the network, but grouped in 2 bonds of 2 ports, each one with an ip address. Currently the backup proxy role is also on this server for various reasons, starting with costs since we have plenty of cpu and ram available there, but not only.

We would like to use as much bandwidth from those ports as we can. I first hoped we could implement 2 backup proxies, using a DNS alias for the 2nd ip, but it doesn't work, Veeam says that this server is already a proxy.

Any other idea?

Thanks.

I had an idea tonight :-) Set the repository on the primary ip and the proxy on the secondary ip. This might help to optimize the network traffic, because when everything is on 1 bond, the traffic from the proxy to the repo still loads the nics, even if it's same ip/same server.
