Support for OpenNebula

Post by jimf » 1 person likes this post

Hi there!

My name is Jim, and I'm a Product Manager at OpenNebula Systems, the commercial arm behind the popular open source cloud management platform, OpenNebula.

We've had an influx of requests from Enterprise customers (OpenNebula users who pay for professional services & support) and Community edition users asking around support for Veeam as a backup option in our product. Like many similar cloud management platforms, we have had a lot of requests from those moving away from VMware and looking to continue using their existing solutions (for example, Veeam) and I wanted to come here to ask around how we can go about this.

We have resources internally that we are willing to dedicate to such activities, as well as already looking into how we can work with agent-based Veeam backups in our own product - but many of our users have already indicated that the preferred method is backing up via Veeam (similar to how VMware, Proxmox, etc).

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Jim

Hi there,

This is a very interesting thread. We are a CSP / MSP running private and public cloud infrastructure for clients. I'm starting to look at evaluating open nebula for a potential POC. VMware is our core, but we have a growing need to look at alternatives. Veeam support for both backup & replication would be a massive plus for open nebula.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hey Jonathan,

I've sent you a DM about this - it would be great to talk more about this as OpenNebula is a great tool for MSPs/CSPs to run that cloud infrastructure, public and private.

Cheers
Jim

Hi,

Is support for OpenNebula on Veeam's roadmap?

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

There are no plans right now besides using agent-based backup.

Best regards
Hannes
