Under guest processing, I have 'Enable guest file system indexing and malware detection' enabled. Under 'Guest OS Credentials', I have some credentials in the dropdown menu already set, but also am using customized guest credentials and am using a different set of credentials for each VM. What do the guest OS credentials in the dropdown essentially do?
Sorry I know if it is a bit confusing. I am cleaning up old datacenter credentials and one of the credentials say it is being used by a job. When I go into the job and go into the guest credential section, the job is in fact set to use the credential but when I go into 'Credentials' to customer the credentials for each machine, the credentials being used for each VM do not use the one in the dropdown box.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Re: Question regarding VBR guest credentials
Hi Mark,
If you specify guest OS credentials, Veeam B&R connects to a guest VM and deploys a runtime process to coordinate guest processing activities, for example detecting and preparing applications for consistent backup, processing transaction logs, and triggering a VSS snapshot to freeze the guest OS. The process runs only during guest processing and is stopped immediately after the processing is finished.
You can find more information about the required permissions for guest processing on this page.
Thanks!

Re: Question regarding VBR guest credentials
Hello Mark,
This drop down controls a single 'service' account that will be used across all machines in the job unless...Under guest processing, I have 'Enable guest file system indexing and malware detection' enabled. Under 'Guest OS Credentials', I have some credentials in the dropdown menu already set
... settings for particular machine is customized by specifying a dedicated account.but also am using customized guest credentials and am using a different set of credentials for each VM. What do the guest OS credentials in the dropdown essentially do?
