Direct backup traffic from Nutanix AHV proxy to Repository

Post by the_dude »

Hello everyone,

We currently have a storage array mapped to our Veeam server as a repository. However, the Veeam server is limited to 1Gbps network ports. Is it possible to map the storage array directly to the AHV proxy VM via iSCSI to bypass the Veeam server's network, the backup traffic will goes direclty from the proxy vm to the storage array? If so, could you share any helpful resources or documentation? I’ve reviewed the available documentation, but it doesn’t seem to cover this specific use case.

Thank you!

It is not a supported scenario with storages attached to proxy, however you can create a separate machine on cluster for this purpose and connect it to the storage array. Traffic will go between proxy/worker and repository inside cluster. You can even specify affinity for worker (dedicated one or for the main appliance) and new "gateway VM" so traffic will be kept inside a cluster node.

Code: Select all

┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ Cluster │
│┌────────────────────────────────────────────────┐│
││ Host ││
││ ┌────────┐ ┌──────────────────────┐ ││
