FLR: required account capabilites on target server
VBR 12
Hi,
I don't seem to find the exact capabilites required for the account/credentials for a FLR on the FLR target host in the User Guide.
For application item restores, the user guide lists "Local Administrator" rights (windows) or "root" rights (Linux).
Is it the same requirement with FLR?
Are high privileges required to install a temporary Veeam component on the target?
Or could non-"Administrator"- / non-"root"-Accounts be used? Of course they would not be able to write to arbitrary file system locations, but they might accept files in e.g. their home directories.

Hi, thanks for your answer. On our installation, I get asked for Windows credentials on the target server, so I guess the vcenter permissions don't apply. I have seen the user guide. But the only explicit mention is for "servers added to the backup infrastructure". For vmware guests not part of the backup infrastructure I can't find the relevant section.

Your welcome @mfbu I believe they have to be part of the infrastructure how else would they be managed. Unless I am missing something here. When you say not part of the infrastructure can you provide more details? Are you getting errors? You might have to open up a support ticket

I have done some FLR before, but never to a server that is part of the Veeam backup infrastructure. AFAICT, vSphere guest VMs are not considered part of the Veeam backup infrastructure, are they?

hi @mfbu No. They must be added as managed servers see link - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
