[SOLARIS] RFE: veeamconfig agreement acceptAll

Post by VAB »

Hello all!

Due to the unfortunate decision to use the old SVR4 package format instead of IPS pkg(5) packages on Solaris 11, the VeeamAgent is not really suited for automated installation or update. Therefore, I need to update each machine manually. However, we are frequently executing Nagios/Icinga checks on the Solaris systems. These scripts use veeamconfig to check backup state.

After an update, I need to run veeamconfig at least once to accept the various license agreements. This is quite annoying and can cause problems. If I am not fast enough, the Icinga check will fail, and our 24/7 operations crew will get a production failure alert. This is not optimal...

May I request an enhancement to resolve this issue? The ideal solution would of course be to carry over the fact that I have already agreed to everything from the old to the new Agent version. Failing that, could you add the command option veeamconfig agreement acceptAll? That way, my Icinga agent could call this command on every execution instead of having to call three separate commands for the various agreements, and I would not have to modify my check script, should there be an additional agreement in the future.

Thanks,
VAB

Hello,
I need to run veeamconfig at least once to accept the various license agreements
So, you run following commands:

Code: Select all

veeamconfig agreement acceptEula
veeamconfig agreement acceptThirdPartyLicenses
veeamconfig agreement acceptRequiredSoftLicenses
If so, then it covers your need, doesn't it?

Yes, these commands certainly work. Each one takes slightly less than three seconds to complete. This would mean that each Icinga check that we run will take up to 9 seconds longer on all Solaris instances. It woud be nice if this delay could be reduced to less than three seconds for one command, or ideally be completely avoided, when the original acceptance of the agreement is preserved during software updates.

It's certainly not a bug report, just a request for enhancement.

Thanks,
VAB
