Trying to restore PostGreSQL in LAB environment
Hi.
I have a lab environment where I'm testing backup and restore of PostgreSQL on Linux instance.
VBR latest version
VM on test proxmox server (Ubuntu server latest with PostgreSQL version 17 with builtin/test databases for test purpose).
I have sucessfully deployed Linux Veeam agent and configured application awareness for PostgreSQL.
Backup runs ok.
I see in the successful task: PostgreSQL backup finished at "main". LSN = "0/4000120".
But when I want to try to do a test restore:
Restore - Agent - Database Restore - PostgreSQL database, there are no PostgreSQL servers listed. List is empty?
What am I missing?

Hello,
I'm not sure how you are trying to restore the application items. Are you using the explorer for PostgreSQL? Please elaborate a bit more on this.
Thanks!

Re: Trying to restore PostGreSQL in LAB environment
Hi.
Thank you for your reply.
Well I am trying to do restore procedure exactly as written above.
In VBR console: "Restore - Agent - Database Restore - PostgreSQL database" and there are no PostgreSQL servers on the list, the list is empty.
I was expecting that I would be able to pick a Linux VM machine, where PostgreSQL is installed, and Veeam Agent sucessfully made backup of that machine with app awareness configured for PostgreSQL.
Thank you for your reply.

I recommend checking these limitations for PostgreSQL processing. If none of them fit your case, please open a support request and share the support case ID.
Thanks!
Thanks!

In your provided link: "https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... imitations"
* Veeam Backup & Replication supports log backup and restore for PostgreSQL version 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
Is a different information provided as it's on:

Re: Trying to restore PostGreSQL in LAB environment
Indeed, we forgot to mention PostgreSQL 17 in the Veeam Backup & Replication guide. We supported it in version 12.3. I will ask the tech writing team to add this information.
Thanks!

Re: Trying to restore PostGreSQL in LAB environment
Ok.
Found out that I am able to open a PostgreSQL restore for this specific Linux Agent based machine.
Interestingly it doesn't work thru wizard:
VBR Console -> Restore -> Agent -> Database Restore -> PostgreSQL Database -> NO SERVERS ON THE LIST.
But If I go over this wizard it works:
VBR Console -> Home -> Backups -> Job Name -> Right click on a job and choosing Restore Application Items -> PostgreSQL instances
Is this a desired behavior or a bug?

Re: Trying to restore PostGreSQL in LAB environment
Hi Bostjan,
This is useful information for us, it will be easier to reproduce the behavior in our environment. I’ve just asked my colleagues in the QA department to check it. I’ll update the topic as soon as I hear back from them.
Thanks!
