Create Full Backup Every Month

Hello, sorry, but I can't find a simple solution to this issue.

How to create a full backup of a virtual server every month, automatically, in the same folder, so that it does not refer to previous files?

I used Community Edition before and backed up my servers to one folder on one server. After creating a backup, I tested it, copied it to a USB drive and deleted these files to free up space for the next backup.

Now, we bought a licensed version of Veeam Backup&Replication. I create it the same way, the first month the backup is done normally. I copy it to a USB drive, delete it from the folder, and after a month the backup is either not done, or the created backup refers to previous files.
Can I create FULLY AUTONOMOUS BACKUP COPIES every month that will not refer in any way to previous copies?

Hi Ruslan, welcome to the forums.

For an automatically scheduled job that runs Full backups every month, you can use Active Full Backups and set the job schedule to only run on the Active Full day:

Set full backup schedule on that tab of the job wizard. Then on the Job Schedule tab, follow step 2 and configure it to run Monthly at the desired time.

Similarly, you might consider scripting a scheduled VeeamZIP job and using for example Windows Task Scheduler to run the VeeamZip job on the desired days. VeeamZIP are standalone full backups similar to the strategy above.

how to do it? I found these settings, but maybe I didnt understand it well.
I juts want to every month copy backups to my USB drive and clear (maybe except *.vbm files) backup folder - I have a limited disk space for it.

Your settings above look fine, Ruslan

If you're looking for an off-site copy or a scheduled copy, the VeeamZIP strategy might make more sense here, or you can even use Export Backup to export from existing backups, reducing the workload on your production environment and instead processing from existing backups.

GFS can be used here, it's part of the job settings when you configure long term retention. This would still involve a manual copy, but I could also imagine creating a Backup Copy Job to accomlish the same goal, but this sounds like overkill based on your requirements.

I know there are a lot of options you've been presented, I'd advise testing these and see which workflow works best for you. VeeamZIP/Export Backup fit the requirements well in my opinion, and scripting such backups/exports is quite simple (we have a dedicated forum to help you if you encounter issues)
