Technical Documentation for Azure Backup

Post by computerEngineer4 »

My company currently uses VBR, but we are considering replacing it or expanding it with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure. I found the user guide for this product, but it does not have a requirements section or a technical section talking about configuration changes that you need to make in your Azure tenant to support the application.

Some questions I am trying to answer:
- What service accounts and role access levels need to be created?
- What private or public IP address and networking configuration is required?
- What changes are required on the guest VMs so they can be backed up properly?
- What Azure storage account changes need to be made?

There does not seem to be any documentation on this and that seems strange to me. I have asked our Veeam sales representative for this information and I am waiting for their reply, but they have sending confusing information so far, which is why I would like documentation instead of just confusing messages in an email.

Hi Paul,

Please take a look at these sections in the User Guide (Service Account Permissions, Ports, Azure Resource Providers, etc), which should clarify your questions. As for the VMs question, then no changes are needed.

Let me know if that helps!
