question about hot-add
We have our Veeam setup to use proxies that will do Hot-add. I've noticed once a VM gets backed up all the disks are hot added, and only removed when the last disk has been processed. Is there a specific reason why a hot added disk does not get released once it has been fully processed?

Re: question about hot-add
The entire source VM gets a snapshot, including all the disks, before those disks get hot-added to the backup proxy. There is no real benefit to releasing (removing) one drive when it is done processing, as it would just be more background tasks to handle.

Well, I thought it would be beneficial if you have more than 1 vm to backup. Once disk has been done it could if it would be released straight after that make room for another vm disk. PLus, if you have a vm with a large number of disks you would have to setup the proxies with multiple controllers in order to hold the disks. Then to me it would make sense to release the already processed disks. But offcourse then there would be more background tasks to keep track of what disks could be released.

oh by the way, not all disks are getting hot added straight away. They are done in batches of 10 together, so something is keeping track on the status of the disks anyways. So that's why I would think it would make sense to release an already processed disk in order to make room for the next one.
