Merging two seperate Veeam B&R environments into one
Hi All,
We currently have two seperate Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 U4b environments. One backs up VMware systems, and the other backs ups Hyper-V systems.
We would like to merge the two environments into one, without having to perform full backups of the VMs.
Is there a supported method to import\merge the configuration of a server (Jobs, repos, managed servers, etc) into another existing single VBR server without overwriting the existing configuration of the target VBR server?
Regards
George

However, this is possible:
We would like to merge the two environments into one, without having to perform full backups of the VMs.
You will need to re-create repositories and jobs on the merged backup server, and map them to existing backups. This way, the initial job run will be an incremental one.
Thanks!

Thanks veremin,
I thought tht you could do that, it just the long way, especially if you have a large number of jobs. I'd hoped to be able to export the jobs, repos etc and copy them to the other existing server. But if not possible it will have to be the long way!

I believe you could use PS for importing/exporting the required stuff, but this wouldn't be much easier.

Late response, but even if only for future reference, I've been working on a script to do just that recently.
You can check it out here: https://github.com/VeeamHub/powershell/ ... ossServers

Thansk DChiavari, we are still working through it. We3 are unable to backup VMs with VMM in both Veeam instances, as it breaks the prior backups and management of Hyper-V servers by Veeam. We'll have a look at your script and see if we can use it or elements of it.
Thank you for your efforts!

Ah... sorry, did not realize you had Hyper-V environments. Unfortunately, my script only supports vSphere environments for now. Anyway I hope you can find something useful. Let me know if I can help!

Thanks for that.
FYI, a fellow team member has Case # 03765654 raised with the specific issues we are experiencing when trying to backup Hyper-V system with seperate Veeam instances pointed at the same VMM server.
Regards
George

[MERGED] 3 body scenario
Hi,
I have a question, I have 2 existing VBR servers A & B and Azure VBR server C which is a new installation.
Can I migrate the existing VBR databases like so A -> C and then B -> C or alternatively migrate A -> B then AB -> C
Thanks
Martin

Re: 3 body scenario
Am I correct in understanding that by migration, you mean merging the configuration information of two backup servers, rather than replacing the configuration of one backup server with that of another? Thanks!

Hi Vermin,
That is it, I have two existing servers that I wish to migrate all the existing job information and repository information to a new Azure VBR server by performing a Veeam export/import

Re: Merging two seperate Veeam B&R environments into one
In general, there are no official methods for carrying out your plan. You can either manually or with scripts re-create repositories and jobs on the second backup server and map them to existing backups so that subsequent job runs are incremental—but nothing beyond that.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello,
for job settings import / export, you might be interested in the REST API /api/v1/automation/jobs/export
Best regards
