Dell ML3 tape lib, second drive added
Our customer has added a second tape drive which now shows up as "stand alone" and is listed as a second library?!
First drive ist TYPE "automated", second drive shows "StandaloneDrive"
Both drives are SAS-attached in the same Tape server, each drive has it's own SAS card, both drives are identical IBM ULT3580-HH8 (half height)
The ML3 could have up to three of those. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all- ... _de-de.pdf
Is there a way to add the second drive into the sole DELL ML3 library? So two drives show up under it?

Re: Dell ML3 tape lib, second drive added
This is the way to do it... contacted Veeam support and got the KB1842
https://www.veeam.com/kb1842
A reg. key needs to be added on the phys. backup server where the tape drives are connected to.
Key: HKLM -> Software -> Veeam -> Veeam Backup and Replication
Name: TapeDevices
Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
Data:
Name_of_VeeamTapeServer
Changer0=Tape0:0,Tape1:1
Now both drives are shown under the TapeLib.

Hi Martin,
Glad that you've fixed the issue. Mind me asking what Veeam B&R version your customer is using? Thanks!

We got this same issue when connecting Dell/EMC ML3 Tape Library with 2 Tape Drives connected to a Linux Tape Server.
Is there for Linux also a solution to fix this?

Gues I fixed it myself on Linux (and maybe same can be done on Windows).
In the browser GUI of the ML3 Tape Library: Library, Logical Libraries, Action - Manage Logical Library (Expert mode), there just add the 2nd Drive to the only one Logical Library, reboot the linux server.
Eventually first remove Drives and Library from Veeam and do a Rescan of the Tape Server.
