I have the following request:
Can a hot-added disk that is attached to a proxy server be detached once it has been processed? This will speed up concurrency when backing up vms with large amounts of disks. Currently the disks will get detached once all disks of a vm have been processed. If you have vms with large numbers of disks this hogs the slots available in the proxy server.

Re: Feature Request - Detach processed hot-add disks from proxy when processed
Hi Oscar,
At first glance, this request sounds like it could significantly increase overall job performance. However, we need to keep in mind that each detach command takes time, typically 2 to 3 minutes, and sometimes it can exceed even 10 minutes. Furthermore, each detach command triggers a virtual machine reconfiguration operation, which also takes time. Let's say we have 10 disks, in this case, we would need to spend at least 20 minutes just to detach all disks.
Another factor contributing to the current behavior is that frequent detach commands and permanent proxy reconfiguration lead to additional load, causing some specific vixdisklib calls to fail, as a result data processing may fail as well.
I noticed that you mentioned in another topic that disks are attached and detached in batches of 10. This number likely depends on the available slots on the proxy SCSI controller.
Thanks!
