Mailbox is already processed by another job

Post by AlexLeadingEdge »

Case #07625243

Since Sunday we have started to see this error:

Code: Select all

5/03/2025 10:08:01 a.m. :: Processing mailbox [REDACTED] completed with warning: Mailbox [REDACTED] is already processed by another job
As far as I can tell nothing else should be backing up this data.

We are running Veeam 365 7.1.0.2031 as we cannot install version 8 as the server is Server 2012 R2 (this backup server is also a secondary domain controller so we cannot do an inplace upgrade of it until we have finished building another secondary domain controller).

OneDrive cannot impact Exchange mailbox processing.

However, if a backup job with a group mailbox overlaps with another job protecting a team associated with this group, there will be a conflict. To avoid the warnings, you can simply reschedule your Exchange and Teams jobs so that they do not overlap in time.

backup entire organization in one job also eliminates it, too :)

I removed the four accounts with warnings, added them to their own "test" backup, ran that, then deleted the "test" backup and set it back to backup entire organization. It seems to be working now, but several old mailboxes of staff that have long gone, had their account deleted and their mailbox turned into shared mailboxes are coming up with this warning:

Code: Select all

9/03/2025 10:11:13 a.m. :: Processing site https://REDACTED.sharepoint.com/personal/REDACTED finished with warning: User REDACTED (Shared) does not have a valid Microsoft 365 license with SharePoint plan enabled
I have added them all to the Sharepoint backup exclusion list and now I've had 15 backups (one per hour) without any issues.
