Veeam for Azure jobs

Post by ronaldw »

We have several Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure jobs (with them appliances and all).

In the veeam console, i can see the jobs.
However. Get-VBRJobs doesn't return those jobs.
When i right click properties on a job i get redirected to the azure appliance.

The backup status of the jobs are visible within the veeam console. Therefor, i would say, it should be possible to retreive that data with some powershell cmdlet.
i have checked the powershell reference, but couldn't find anything.

The only cmdlet that i get 'some' info is Get-VBRAzureComputeBackup

To workaround this, we are connecting to the rest api of the azure appliance etc. but,.. we have multiple appliances, multiple customers, etc. so now i have keep track of all credentials and appliances.

i'd rather just query all jobs from the console / powershell cmdlets.

Can someone point me in the right direction, and/or, is this possible at all ?

Hi ronaldw,

Currently we don't have cmdlets for managing jobs imported from the public cloud backup appliances (Veeam Backup for AWS/Azure/GCP).

The request is known, but for now there is not a means to manage it from Veeam Backup and Replication directly via powershell/REST, but Veeam Backup for Azure has its own REST API endpoints, and you could write some fairly simple scripts with Invoke-WebRequest to manage it with Powershell, or a proper app built atop the REST endpoints.

Would it be possible to get an authentication token for these appliance through the cmdlets?

Hi ronaldw,

Just to confirm I got you right, you want cmdlets similar to Connect-VBRServer but for the public cloud backup appliances? (Backup for AWS/Azure/GCP)

Or can you elaborate the request a bit more if I misunderstood.

Yes, you are right :)
when i right click properties a job, i get redirected to the url, and the authentication token is in the URL bar.
if i can get that connection, i don't have to store the credentials to the appliance, but it's stored in Veeam.
That way i could achieve 100% automated etc., and i don't need to manually query the credentials of the appliances.

Thank you for the clarification, it can be considered, but I think having cmdlets to properly manage the public cloud infrastructure and jobs makes more sense, but consider the request counted.
